Have I mentioned how much Amy loves to wear dresses? She frequently asks to wear a dress when she's getting dressed in the morning. She also has her "dress-up" dresses, which she enjoys putting on from time to time. Well, apparently she now has a "video" dress! For the last couple of times that she has watched a video, Amy has wanted to wear this dress. It's a pretty dress, and of course she looks adorable in it. She says that she wants to wear the dress to "be like Dora." Amy has "Dancing Dora" video where Dora wears a fancy dress at the end of the video. Well, Amy wants to be just like Dora, so she has to change into the dress in order to watch the video. I didn't realize that this dress also was required for any video that she watched! She is such a joy!!
Grandma Meyer's Birthday
Monday, 7-19-10
This past weekend, we traveled to Jasper to help Grandma Meyer celebrate her birthday (even though her birthday isn't until this Thursday). Amy was excited to learn that we would be visiting with Grandma & Grandpa Meyer, clearly remembering the rocking horse that she rode on when we visited them at Easter.
Amy loved having Grandma read to her as well as play with her! She enjoyed searching the house for little treasures! We had to take her pink cowboy hat so she could wear it while riding the rocking horse! Amy simply giggled when Grandpa wore her cowboy hat!! She had to wear her other hat so that they both had hats on to get their pictures taken. By the way, you will see in the pictures that Amy doesn't have clothes on - these pictures were taken right after lunch when Amy thought she should take her clothes off to make sure they didn't get messy (I'm not sure where she gets that from!!). :)
Amy was sad to leave, but excited to hear that Grandma & Grandpa would be coming up to visit us this coming weekend along with Aunt Cheryl & Aunt Donna!!

Visit from the Passy Fairy
Thursday, 7-8-10
It has been almost six weeks since the Passy Fairy came to visit Amy. I have been meaning to write about this for sometime...it was quite exciting!
Prior to the Passy Fairy visit, Amy used a pacifier when she slept, both naps and at nighttime. Kurt and I knew that we needed to wean her off the pacifier, though honestly neither one of us were looking forward to the task. Then, we discovered that the Passy Fairy comes to visit little ones to take their pacifiers so that little babies can use them. As a token of her appreciation for the passy, she leaves a toy for the toddler since she is no longer a baby and thus doesn't need the pacifier. Well, it is amazing how much power the Passy Fairy can have.
We spoke with Amy about the Passy Fairy and the new toy that she would leave for her once she gave up all of her pacifiers. Slowly, over a course of a week or so, Amy slowly began throwing her passies away, one by one. When she only had one left, she didn't want to throw it away. After talking with her some more about it, she agreed that she would leave the passy for the Passy Fairy. So, in talking with the Passy Fairy in private, it was agreed that Amy actually could pick our her own toy at the store!! Amy was thrilled and away we went to the store. Amy chose the Little People Tree House, complete with a little princess and horse.
To our suprise, Amy actually did very well giving up her passy. The first night, she cried a little bit, but nothing to what Kurt and I were expecting. After the first day, she didn't have any more problems going to sleep. Amy occasionally mentioned her passy, but then quickly said that the Passy Fairy came for it.
We are so proud of our big girl for giving up her pacifier! Below are a few pictures of her enjoying her new toy from the Passy Fairy!!

The Bookstore
Thursday, 7-8-10
It has been so hot and humid this week that I have been seeking out things to do inside, at least for part of the day and/or week. Amy, of course, doesn't seemed faced by the heat at all. I, on the other hand, sometimes think that I'm going to melt away from all of my sweat!! :) Anyway, so what do we do when we don't have a lot of time but enough time to do something? I ask Amy what she wants to do, and she replies, "go to bookstore." So, there we go!
Once we enter the bookstore, Amy takes off running toward the children's department. She grabs a few books and heads to their stage to read the books in their chairs that are the perfect size for her. Then, after she is done reading the books, she heads on over to the train set where she will play with the trains for awhile. Then, if we have time, she'll look at the stuffed animals or the other books. It never is a dull moment at the bookstore!! Personally, I love that she loves the bookstore as much as I do. I can seriously spend hours at the bookstore (obviously without a little one with me!) looking at books, writing down the names of books that I want to read, just soaking in the atmosphere. Sometimes, we buy a book or two and sometimes we don't. But, the bookstore is always a good place to go when it's so hot outside!!

July 4th Fun!
Monday, 7-5-10
This long weekend, we have been enjoying all the different fun activities celebrating our nation's birthday! Daddy has been enjoying a 4-day weekend and Amy & I have loved having him home all this time! We have gotten spoiled and it will be difficult for us when he goes back to work tomorrow!
This year, we did several new activities since Amy is a little bit older and able to enjoy more stuff. Yesterday, we went to a local July 4th festival. It was incredibly hot but it didn't stop us from enjoying the different activities. Amy got a butterfly balloon which she thought was pretty cool. Amy also enjoyed riding a pony, though this was a little different from the "horsie" rides that she takes at the local Meijer store. Amy had no fear and enjoyed her ride! Afterwards, we checked out the goats (Amy wasn't a fan) as well as the bunnies, which she enjoyed petting. We had to stop at the water fountains so Amy could dangle her feet in the water.
Today, we went to the local July 4th parade. It certainly was hot this morning and we were all cooking! However, we still enjoyed the parade. Amy simply sat and watched the different floats and participants in the parade for the longest time. She was thrilled when she discovered that some people would throw candy at her! Amy especially enjoyed the bands and music, typically dancing/swaying to the music! Amy's poor little cheeks got pretty red by the time the parade was done, but she said that the parade was "fun." Amy currently is taking a much deserved nap!

Family Florida Vacation
Friday, 7-2-10
Last week at this time, we were winding down our week-long vacation with the Murphy family. As we have done for several years, we took a vacation with Grandma & Granddad Murphy, Tim, Thuydung, and Samantha. This year, we went to a new location - Redington Shores, FL. We kept busy all week playing at the beach and pool. I plan on writing more later, but wanted to share a few pictures from the week.
