April 2011
So, for those who know us well, you know that we are a house divided. Not IU and Purdue, but Kentucky and Purdue. And when it comes to college basketball, we both love watching the games. Then, throw in a little March Madness and we are watching more TV than probably the rest of the year (except maybe during NFL football season!). Of course, with two little ones, we don't watch as many games as we used to. This year, I was particularly delighted when Kentucky made it to the Final Four. It is true that I bleed blue for my wildcats and I proudly wear my Kentucky attire. Unfortunately for Amy (or for me, I guess!), I haven't been able to find a Kentucky outfit that Amy will wear. As I've written before, Amy has a particular sense of style...typically involving flowers, bows, and the colors pink and purple. However, Nathan is still young enough that I can pretty much dress him in anything. Thus, his first ever Kentucky outfit. You have to admit...he looks pretty good in blue!! :)
Nathan & the Girls
March 2011
Oh Nathan...someday I know that I'll have to apologize to you for some of these pictures. But as you will see, right from the beginning you were attracting the ladies. Of course, I'm sure your big sister had something to do with it as well. One day, you were minding your own business, very content swinging in your swing. Amy saw you and immediately was concerned that you might be lonely. Thus, she gave you some "friends" to keep you company. Ummm, those friends were a few of her dolls. I can only imagine what you were thinking as I stood by watching her and then taking just a few pictures. I am sure that you will tell me all about it as you get older and see these pictures. However, I thought it was so kind hearted of your sister to be concerned that you not be lonely as you were swinging. I did take some pictures without your "girls," though those pictures aren't nearly as fun as the ones with the girls in them! :)

First Few Smiles
March 2011
Nathan's first few smiles have completely stolen my heart. Those little smiles can simply grab my heart and hold on. Now, trying to get a picture of an actual smile...well, that has proven to be a bit more challenging. It seems like I have taken so many pictures of him smiling - pictures where I was confident that I had captured his cute little smile. Yet, when I look at those pictures on the computer...the smile isn't really there. So, I continue to snap pictures like crazy in the hopes of capturing the perfect picture of that perfect little smile. The pictures below are my best attempts in March. I am confident that with time we will have plenty of pictures of him smiling!

Thumb Sucker
March 2011
So, it appears as if we have a thumb sucker on our hands. One day, I went up to check on Nathan while he was napping (who can resist looking in on a sleeping baby?!). What I discovered was his little thumb in his mouth as he slept. So, I ran to get my camera, though by the time I got back to his room, the thumb was starting to come out. However, we have noticed him sucking his thumb on a few different occasions. Typically, his pacifier will come out while sleeping and then he somehow finds his thumb...or one of his fingers...or several of his fingers!

Sibling Love
March 2011
Amy is so loving toward Nathan...as long as she keeps her distance. Although she loves helping with him, she typically doesn't want to get too close. However, she is slowly becoming more comfortable around him and thus is getting a tad bit closer to him with each day. Amy loves to give him kisses - she leans in toward him (of course, never actually touching him!) and will give him a kiss. She then smiles & giggles. Cutest thing!
